The synthesis of cinnamic acid by Perkin reaction of benzaldehyde and acetic anhydride was carried out by using polyethylene glycol as phase transfer catalyst and anhydrous potassium fluoride instead of potassium acetate. The reaction temperature was reduced and the reaction time was shortened. The optimum reaction conditions were Benzene formaldehyde: acetic anhydride: potassium fluoride = 1: 3: 1, PEG2% (mol), reaction time 1.5h, reaction temperature 160 ℃, the yield of cinnamic acid was 84.2%.
